Saturday 26th October 2019
an inspiring afternoon by the fireside at Number Seven Dulverton
Join us this autumn to celebrate the publication of The Hare and the Moon, a beautiful country almanac by Catherine Hyde that follows the phases of the moon and a hare’s journey throughout the year.
Waking on the winter solstice the hare begins her journey through the seasons and changing landscape, moving in harmony with the moon. Catherine's atmospheric paintings depict the hare running in January, watching in February, leaping in March until it comes full circle, sleeping once more in December.
A lyrical tribute to the natural world the paintings of flora and fauna feature hawthorn and cowslips, swallows, blackbirds, buzzards and owls, harebells, holly, rowan and poppies. Anecdotes of folklore, fairytale, myth and legend accompany the hare's colourful journey.
It promises to be a wonderful, wonderful book featuring Catherine's much loved imagery, distinct sense of colour and love of texture, and will no doubt introduce her work to a much wider appreciative audience.
Throughout the afternoon you will able to chat with Catherine about her inspiration, take a peek in her sketchbooks and view original paintings produced for inclusion in The Hare and the Moon.
